The FANUC DeviceNet Interface, based on the Controller Area Network (CAN) BUS, allows easy connection between industrial drives, sensors and I/O controllers. DeviceNet Interface consists of hardware and software that connects the R-30iA controller to one or more DeviceNet networks.
The hardware consists of a motherboard and up to 4 daughter boards. Each daughter board provides communication with the DeviceNet network.
The DeviceNet Interface software, which is an optional feature, is installed into the R-30iA controller.
The DeviceNet Interface has the following advantages.
Simplify the connection to I/O to reduce interface hardware. Thereby, the communication system can be simply set up and maintained.
Depending on the hardware configuration, you can connect to up to 4 DeviceNet networks.
The first network is used to connect the host and the plurality of controllers in the unit, and the second network is used to locally connect the I/O devices to the controllers.
The first network is used as a network with a longer extension of the low-speed baud rate, and the second network is used as a network with a shorter total extension that can use the high-speed baud rate.
Through the use of industry-standard open network protocols, robots can work with a wide range of industrial products, simple light
The electrical switch and the proximity switch are widely exchanged with the programmable logic controller (PLC).
The DeviceNet Interface can be used with the following devices.
Handling I/O boards
I/O unit type A
I/O unit type B
Programmable I/O interface
Ethernet communication
Profibus DP
ControlNet
The DeviceNet Interface consists of the following hardware.
DeviceNet Interface motherboard for connecting the rear panel connectors of the R-30iA controller and
PC/104 connector for the PC/104DeviceNet daughter board. There are two types of motherboards.
Full-slot motherboard with the original size slot of the rear panel of an R-30 iA controller.
Wide mini-slot motherboard, wide mini slot with R-30 iA controller
Full slot motherboard
Wide mini slot motherboard
Install 1 to 4 PC/104 DeviceNet daughter boards to the motherboard. Up to 4 daughter boards can be installed in the full-slot motherboard, and only 1 daughter board can be installed in the wide mini-slot motherboard. The I/O devices connected to the network of each daughter board perform I/O allocation to the racks 81 to 84.
The DeviceNet slave board only supports the DeviceNet slave function. The slave board can only be I/O assigned as rack 81. Only one block can be used by the DeviceNet slave board. If the PC/104 DeviceNet daughter board is already assigned on rack 81 (board 1), the PC/104 DeviceNet daughter board is ignored and the DeviceNet slave board is prioritized.
Additional information The R-30iA controller supports up to 2 motherboards. Up to 4 channels can be supported in any combination of single channel and dual channel boards. With the DeviceNet slave board, the remaining 3 channels can be used.

Connect the boards to a DeviceNet standard cable with a 5-terminal Phoenix Combicon connector.
I/O for information exchange on the respective boards, using I/O assignments from 81 to 84 rack numbers.
