IR Introduces iP1837 and iP1827 iPowIR Regulators

International Rectifier ( IR ) introduces iP1837 and iP1827 iPow IR regulators for point-of-load (POL) applications requiring high current, including server, network communication, data storage And telecommunications equipment.

The iP1837 and iP1827 devices integrate control MOSFETs, synchronous FETKY, bootstrap diodes, bootstrap capacitors, and internal overcurrent protection into a compact 7.7 mm × 7.7 mm LGA wireless package that helps reduce component count and other points. Compared to the vertical solution, the board size can be reduced by 20%.

The new device features true precision-adjustable differential voltage sensing and +/- 0.5% accurate reference overtemperature protection. The device's precise dead time adjustment maximizes efficiency while the Body Braking optimizes transient response. In addition, the iP1837 and iP1827 are pin-compatible for 25A and 35A applications, offering a wide input voltage from 1.5 V to 16 V, programmable frequencies up to 1.5 MHz, and a flexible 5 V bias or 3.3 V bias/single input. Optimized for 12 V input operation and low output voltage.

The new device offers comprehensive protection features including enhanced temperature-compensated internal interrupted overcurrent protection to prevent over-temperature by flat current. Other features include pre-bias startup, overvoltage protection, thermal shutdown, enable pins with voltage monitoring, power good output, and programmable soft start.
