Researchers at MIT have found that adding only two cheap additives to a pesticide can increase the efficiency of pesticide use, increase the spray coverage of pesticides, and significantly reduce the doses used while achieving the same effect. Finally, this new viscous pesticide can also reduce environmental pollution.

The researchers added two different macromolecules to the pesticide, and each had a charge of opposite polarity. When pesticides containing positive and negative charges are sprayed on crops, they can continue to act on the surface through attraction. Since most plant leaves are hydrophobic, this feature also allows some types of pesticides to be used repeatedly.

The researchers said that this new type of pesticide can reduce the current usage to one-tenth, but at present everything is only in the laboratory stage, the actual effect of future use, the researchers plan to conduct further tests in India.
