Online trading company PayPal (PayPal) announced on November 9th that its iOS 10 version of PayPal users can use Apple's iPhone phone voice assistant Siri to achieve payment functions.
Meron Colbeci, PayPal ’s core product executive, wrote in a blog: “For example, 'Hey, Siri, use PayPal to transfer $ 50 to Bill' is great!â€
Colbeci said that PayPal's Siri voice payment function is currently only available to 30 countries including China and the United States.
Because Apple opened SiriKit to developers in iOS 10, Siri skills were realized. At present, Siri officially landed on the third-party application platform, no longer just as Apple's own application. Apple said in June that the SiriKit development kit supports six major applications, and payment functions are only one of them. PayPal is one of the first members in the world to support Siri voice payment.
Paymo subsidiary Venmo added the Siri payment function in September, and its competitor Square Cash also supports this function. Other applications that integrate Siri include: Facebook, LinkedIn, Lyft, Pinterest, Skype, VoIP, Telegram, Uber and WhatsApp. Facebook Messenger intelligent assistant also provides payment function, but currently does not support Siri voice payment.
