Angry Birds Developer Our Rovio is worth more than POPCAP

Although Angry Birds developer Rovio is not seeking an acquisition right now, its vice president, Ville Heijari, said that Rovio's market capitalization exceeds 750 million US dollars that EA acquired Popcap. Heijari said that although there are many potential buyers who want to acquire Rovio, they are more likely to develop independently and enter the game outside the field.

Heijari admits that each company has a valuation, but Rovio's own estimate is so high that nobody comes to buy. But if anyone really wants to buy, Heijari said that the price "will definitely be higher than the purchase of Popcap's $750 million."

Heijari also stated that Rovio is not just relying on a game. The seasonal and Rio versions of Angry Birds show that Rovio has many new selling points.

He also talked about the overvaluation of Popcap and Zynga because people did not see the bubble mentality of the mobile/social/casual game industry.

Rovio's chairman Kaj Hed said in March this year that Rovio's IPO will be completed in the next five years, and the listing will choose the United States or Nasdaq.
