1 Introduction - Current Status of Lighting Technology
More and more lighting control solutions are appearing in the current lighting industry, so the design of the power supply, the driving circuit of the lamp, the security protection, and the management interface have become more flexible. At present, lighting technology mainly includes mainstream fluorescent lamps, LED lamps and HID technology. Its wide application makes the power drive topology very different. The common Flyback, Buck, Boost and other structures are widely used. Whether the product design adopts advanced digital energy-saving control design, whether it supports flexible topology applications such as flyback, Buck, Boost, etc. The length of development cycle and time-to-market will determine the success or failure of the product. However, the traditional lighting scheme often uses special devices. Realized, it is difficult to meet the needs of rapid development.
Therefore, an excellent lighting platform solution undoubtedly needs to support flexible topology applications, and meet the dimming and networking requirements of today's mainstream lighting control solutions such as DALI, DMX512, 0-10V, wireless, infrared, etc. Shiqiang Telecom developed an intelligent lighting platform solution based on Renesas Electronics 78K0/Ix2 series MCUs, plus a rich reference design to provide effective lighting design solutions for lighting manufacturers in hardware circuits and software development. 2 78K0/Ix2 Series MCU Introduction
The 78K0/Ix2 series MCUs are high-performance 8-bit MCUs designed by Renesas for lighting applications. As shown in Figure 1, the MCUs are positioned to meet the high-resolution dimming control and abnormal detection of the current lighting market. Hot demand for protection, intelligent energy-saving control, etc., relying on a single MCU to achieve a low-cost, high-performance green energy-saving lighting system.

The 78K0/Ix2 series MCUs have built-in rich hardware resources and provide excellent hardware support for flexible lighting power drive design and dimming control. Specifically in:
a. 16 bit PWM timer maximum counting clock frequency 40MHz, output and comparator interlocking, PFC control, PWM output with 2 dead time control, suitable for driving half bridge / full bridge circuit, to achieve frequency conversion control;
b. Built-in op amp, multi-channel high-speed 10bit A/D and comparator and other analog circuits simplify peripheral circuits
c. The timer can trigger A/D sampling to capture the useful signal useful point
d. Comparator/external interrupt can realize hardware disable output function, fast response and ensure safety
e. Timer remote control interface and UART function, for infrared and wireless remote control applications, communication module with DALI bus interface, suitable for intelligent lighting control
f. Multiple protection modules: window type watchdog, clock monitoring, low voltage alarm, etc., reliable operation
