Taiwan is opening a fine apple tied mobile phone

According to Taiwan’s “Central News Agency” report, Taiwan’s “fair meeting” today imposed a fine of NT$20 million (same below) on Apple iPhone Asia’s sales of iPhones to limit the price of the iPad, making it the world’s first case.

The "Fair Trade Commission" stated that Apple Asia is a subsidiary of Apple Inc. and is responsible for sales of Apple products. Apple has limited the price of the iPhone's bond for many years, triggering the attention of "legislators."

The “Fair Society” surveyed three telecommunications operators, including Taiwan’s “Chunghwa Telecom”, Taiwan’s Big Brothers and Far EasTone Telecom, collecting contracts and e-mail exchanges with Apple, and found that Apple and telecoms companies signed a distribution agreement. In the contract, all telecom operators are buying iPhones and have the power to determine the selling price.

The “Fair Fair” found that before the launch of the new aircraft, the three telecom operators will send the communications fees and the price of the contracted mobile phones to Apple Inc. for review, and the communication costs will be verified by the “Communication Communication Commission” (“NCC”) of Taiwan. However, the price of the mobile phone to be tied up should be determined by the telecommunications industry.

"Fair Fair" also found that Apple did require the telecommunications industry to adjust the price of mobile phones, the amount of mobile phone subsidies and the price gap between the new and old models.

The “fair meeting” was based on the violation of the 18th article of the “Fair Dealing Law” restricting the resale price regulation to impose penalties. It imposed a fine of 20 million yuan at the Apple Asia Company and required it to be paid within one month. The reason for this fine was mainly because Apple’s main iPhone channel (the three telecommunications operators surveyed) was mostly sold through a contract, and sold less than 10% on empty aircraft.

The "Fair Fair" stated that Taiwan is the first case of opening a fine for the price of Apple's mobile phones. The European Union is also investigating whether Apple's sales of mobile phones have unfair competition. Taiwan has a reference value for penalties. The "Fair Society" said that if Apple does not improve or re-offend, it can impose another fine of 100,000 to 50 million yuan.
