The latest news from the China Railway Corporation shows that the main project of the Sichuan-Tibet railway from Lhasa to Linzhi section has been successfully completed.

The Sichuan-Tibet Railway runs from Chengdu, Sichuan to Lhasa, Tibet. It is planned to be opened to traffic in 2026 and divided into three sections: the Chengkang Railway (Chengdu-Kangding is divided into the Chengya Railway / Yakang Railway), the Conlin Railway (Kangding-Linzhi), and Larin. Railway (Lhasa-Linzhi).

At the end of 2014, both the Chengkang section and the Lalin section started construction. The Chengya Railway is expected to be completed by 2018, and the Lalin Railway is expected to be completed by 2021.

The Conlin Railway is the longest one on the whole line, with a total length of about 1,320 kilometers and the greatest difficulty in construction. It is planned to start construction by the end of 2018 with a construction period of 7 years.

The Lalin Railway starts from Lhasa, and passes through Gongga, Zhacao, Zedang, Sangri, Gacha, Lang County and Milin. It arrives in Linzhi City. The new line has a total length of 402 kilometers. There are altogether Changguo and Gongga. Thirty-four stations such as Zhacao, Zedang, and Linzhi.

The Sichuan-Tibet Railway, carrying the dreams of several generations of people, began its exploration from the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China. It began to select the line in the 1990s, but it did not really begin construction until 2014.

The Sichuan-Tibet Railway is called “the most difficult railway to build,” and the steps are eight octaves, with a total climb height of more than 1400 meters. The terrain is faced with high elevation differences, strong plate activity (geological faults and high-intensity earthquakes), high ground stress, and high ground. Heat, high-density pebble layer, frequent mountain disasters, ecologically fragile, difficult to supply oxygen in the tunnel and other major problems.

The Lhasa-Linzhi section of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway is an important part of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway and the Yunnan-Tibet Railway in the medium and long-term railway network planning. It is the main channel for passenger and cargo transportation in Tibet and Sichuan, Chongqing, Central China and East China.
