Recently, Yang Yuecheng, director of the Management Office of the High-tech Zone of the Torch Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, awarded the “National Torch Plan Zhongshan Guzhen Lighting Equipment Design and Manufacturing Industry Base†plaque to Guzhen Town. Wu Runfu, the party secretary of the town, accepted the plaque on the stage, marking the town. It has changed from a professional town of lighting production to an industrial cluster.
Guzhen Town fully utilized the Torch Program to guide and promote the development of high-tech industries, and attached great importance to and vigorously supported the development of lighting equipment design and manufacturing industry. Guzhen Town is a highly concentrated lighting industry cluster. After being awarded the “China Lighting Capital†in 2002, it was recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in September this year as “National Torch Plan Zhongshan Guzhen Lighting Equipment Design and Manufacturing Industry Baseâ€. Another national title won by the city's professional town.
Wu Runfu, secretary of the party committee of Guzhen, said that the title of the base has provided a broader platform for the development of the lighting industry cluster in Guzhen Town.
