Unwilling to do niche VR engine Crytek will fund VR developers

Compared to Epic's UE4 engine and Unity's U3D engine, Crytek's Cry engine is a bit niche. However, they have recently opened a benefit for developers. As long as the fund application is submitted before September 9th this year, content developers may have a share of the $1 million in aid funds.

Crytek's move is primarily aimed at small, creative teams. Providing prototypes and design ideas in the Cry engine's display area will increase the chances of getting funding. In addition, the development team must also prove that they have not cooperated with other agencies.

In fact, Crytek's funding is not large. The Unreal Engine Developer Funding Program has a total bonus of US$5 million. Independent developers and studios have the opportunity to receive assistance ranging from US$5,000 to US$50,000 through this policy. Epic also contributed 500,000 to Valve and HTC. USD 500 sets of virtual reality helmets funded by HTC Vive.

However, Crytek was already on the verge of being in 2014, and even the payment of salaries was a problem, thanks to Amazon's capital injections to save. However, Crytek still freed up most of the features of the Cry engine, and now it has invested millions of dollars in assisting developers. It shows that it is still full of sincerity.

George Scotto, commercial director of the Cry Engine, pointed out: "Perhaps this little bit of capital expenditure can't make much changes, but we are very pleased to help independent developers to complete the work. This is also true for the new platform of virtual reality."
