China's triple play IPTV development is facing a deadlock

DIGITIMESResearch stated that China’s triple play has been unclear for 12 years. Radio and television and telecommunications parties have repeatedly struggled. Until the pilot program was released in June 2010, each party’s powers and responsibilities were clearly defined. In the past, the interests of the two parties involved involved in the development of the three parties, resulting in obstructed development. The IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) business has therefore become the focus of attention. With the integration of the three networks into the pilot phase, the number of users in this market has already broken 10 million by 2011.

However, in July 2011, CNTV (hereinafter referred to as CCTV)’s network television station “China Internet TV” (CNTV) sued Jiangsu Telecom and Guangdong Telecom’s IPTV service platform for involvement in the theft of CCTV program content, and CNTV highly regulated its IPTV partner. Telecommunications operators can now compete with BesTV through their licensees.

The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television designed a 2-level integrated broadcast control platform architecture, with the central government as the central level broadcast control platform, which will integrate BesTV, and the CCTV-led Yunnan model, with the IPTV business of the holding company and telecommunications industry, in Dali and Tengchong. Other peripheral cities have developed rapidly, but the scale of users is still unable to compare with BesTV. The accusation also revealed that the development of China's triple play IPTV is facing a stalemate.
